WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AS A DENTAL ASSISTANT

You’ll be in high demand because every dental practice needs highly-skilled Dental Assistants.

As a Dental Assistant, you will likely perform a wide range of duties in both dental procedures as well as patient care. Some of these responsibilities can include:

  • Assisting during dental procedures and exams
  • Performing routine dental cleanings, polishing, and fluoride treatments
  • Taking and processing x-rays
  • Sterilizing and organizing dental tools
  • Updating patient records
  • Prepping exam rooms between patients

There are nine specialties within Dental Assisting to choose from when you graduate with your associate’s degree. This program also fully prepares you to pursue further educational goals, i.e. Dental Hygiene degrees.

A SAMPLE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE STUDYING

Many of the courses you will be taking are high-touch and hands-on, including Dental Materials, Dental Radiology, Dental Instruments, and Dental Chairside classes. In these classes, you’ll learn an array of dental techniques including making dental impressions, models, installing fillings, and applying temporary and permanent cements and bonding. You’ll also learn how to take and process a full series of dental x-rays, as well as proper usage and sterilization of dental instruments.
